Getting Healthy in the Inner North is a program designed to promote healthy eating and physical activities in Inner North Canberra. The program has a particular focus on individuals not predominantely in the paid workforce and at high risk of chronic disease.
Activities in the Getting Healthy in the Inner North program are run through the Boomerang Centre and are open to public housing tenants and low income earners who live in the Inner North.
A free healthy lunch is offered every Wednesday at the Boomerang Centre and information is available about eating healthy on a budget. A community nurse also attends the Information Hub on the first Wednesday of every month to answer any questions and make referrals.
A popular part of program is the Heartmoves group. This is a gentle exercies program for women, which is held every Tuesday.
Upcoming activities include a men's Heartmoves group and a Quit Smoking Course.
