Beyond "I’m just a mum": rich stories of motherhood

Beyond "I’m just a mum": rich stories of motherhood is a collection of knowledge honouring the experience of being a mother.

The Majura Women’s Group, with support from other community organisations including the YWCA of Canberra, brought together 18 mothers to share and document their unique experiences and knowledge of mothering.

The process used narrative therapy practices for gathering the stories of the women. The process empowered the community to give voice to important experiences which would otherwise go unheard. This publication is a testament to the effectiveness of applying narrative therapy ideas to community work.
