Online Mentoring for Women

Welcome to Online Mentoring for Women – Phase One!

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local women’s leadership, the YWCA of Canberra is excited to be developing Online Mentoring for Women, an innovative program designed to provide women in the ACT with an opportunity to experience and gain the benefits from mentoring relationships. This might be as a mentee, a mentor, or even both. Online Mentoring for Women will be developed in different stages.

We are delighted to present Phase One, which provides helpful information on mentoring as well as a number of reflective learning modules designed to inspire your thinking as you explore your mentoring journey. The project will gradually develop into a fully interactive mentoring site. On this site you will be able to register as either a mentor or mentee, or both, and have a secure online space to develop your relationship and undertake online mentoring sessions. There will be other exciting features on the full site too.

In this current phase we welcome you to have a look through the information provided and consider whether you would like to be involved. We hope that the information provided helps you to reflect on what you would like to gain from mentoring, and prepare for your mentoring relationship. You can find information on what mentoring is and learn about what’s involved in being a mentor or mentee. The information is designed to get you thinking about mentoring and equip you with answers to questions such as:

  • Is mentoring right for me?
  • How could I benefit from being a mentor or mentee?
  • How do I start a mentoring relationship? What happens when I want it to end?
  • What are my responsibilities as a mentor or mentee?

You will also find learning modules on topics including values and strengths, women’s leadership and career that you may like to reflect on yourself, or use as a basis of discussion in your mentoring sessions.

We hope you enjoy Phase One of Online Mentoring for Women. We are starting up our pilot phase from March - May. If you are a current or exisiting member and would like to be involved, please register your interest by calling 02 6175 9900 or email canberra@ywca-canberra.org.au
